Shenglu’s 6-Port Beamforming Stadium Antenna Deployed at King Fahd Stadium

Located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, King Fahd Stadium officially opened in 1987 and has since become a landmark of Saudi sports. Its distinctive Bedouin tent-inspired membrane roof once set a world record for the largest tensile-roof structure at a stadium. The venue has hosted numerous major international events, including the FIFA U-20 World Cup and the FIFA Confederations Cup.

The stadium has recently undergone a major modernization while preserving its iconic architectural profile. Its capacity has been expanded to 70,200, and its facilities have been upgraded for a wide range of uses. It will serve as a key venue for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup and an important host stadium for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, forming part of the core infrastructure for Saudi Arabia’s World Cup preparations. The project marks a significant step in bringing Asian football to the world stage.

With tens of thousands of spectators connecting at the same time during major events, the stadium presents exceptional challenges: high-density traffic, complex obstructions across multiple seating tiers, and extreme desert heat. These conditions place stringent demands on wireless coverage, network capacity, and interference control.

To meet the needs of this world-class venue, Shenglu has successfully deployed its independently developed 6-port beamforming stadium antenna, designed for the stadium’s complex seating structure and exceptionally high user density.

✅ Integrated 6-port design: Each antenna supports independent control of multiple beams, reducing the number of antennas required across the venue and lowering installation and maintenance costs. The compact design is suited to the limited mounting space beneath the roof and around the stands.

✅ Precise beamforming: Beams can be shaped to follow the contours of the stands, with clearly defined boundaries and suppressed sidelobes. By directing signal energy toward the seating areas and reducing unnecessary radiation, the antenna helps prevent signal overlap and overshooting caused by multi-tier stands and the wide-span roof.

✅ High port isolation and coordinated multi-channel operation: Supporting large-scale MIMO, the antenna helps maintain stable network performance when large crowds are simultaneously streaming video, broadcasting live, and uploading match footage.

✅ Built for demanding outdoor conditions: Its integrated radome is designed to withstand high temperatures and windblown sand, helping maintain stable RF performance throughout extended periods of intensive use in Riyadh’s hot, dusty climate.

From the Asian Cup to the World Cup, the world’s attention will turn to Riyadh. With its self-developed antenna technology, Shenglu is helping build a high-performance, reliable wireless network at this legendary stadium—so fans can stay connected and enjoy a seamless match-day experience.

With robust antenna and RF solutions, Shenglu supports world-class sporting events and demonstrates the strength of Chinese antenna technology in large-scale stadium communications.
